How to get PIPed at Amazon ? (Mental Stress)
Asking for a friend who is SDE 1 at Amazon from last 18 months . He is going through mental stress and unable to take it anymore. He is not happy and visiting physicartist frequently. Unfortunately he is not getting piped . He is docile and calm going person, work day and night to complete the job . He wants to quit the job this Friday. Blind folks , this is not sarcastic, my friend is really getting depressed with work . Is there anyway for him to get pipped so that he can get 2 months of pay instead of leaving this Friday with empty hands
Take mental health leave
What’s his plan B after quitting Friday? If unemployed I’d say go for a personal leave of absence. It’ll be unpaid but he’ll still be employed with the option to come back later after resting or prepping for new job. If he gets a doctors note, can apply for FMLA to get a partial paid leave. If that doesn’t work, quiet quit while job hunting. Not sure the reason to just randomly quit while in good standings without another job unless he wants to take a career break and has the savings for it

pip != layoff != Severance?
My friend got a severance option that he took instead of the PIP. It was 2mo IIRC (which is roughly the time that it would’ve taken for Amazon to fail him on the PIP and then fire him).
I mean “stop working” is the easiest solution anyone can do to get piped and reduce mental stress at the same time.
TAKE FMLA
Your friend needs to grow a backbone. Just start missing deadlines and refuse to work at all outside 9-5. He either gets pipped or somehow still manages to keep his job.
What happens if he stops working day and night and just work during the day? 👀
