How’s my Budget?
Trying to fit all my monthly expenses within my Base Salary and it’s shocking how it’s just barely enough (at least post-taxes). Location: Seattle, WA House Related: Rent - $2,295 Internet - $70 Utilities - $130 Phone bill - $70 (Verizon) Groceries - $400 Supplies - $200 Personal Related Expenses Eating out / Drinks / tips- $300 Haircuts (twice a month) - $100 Charity - $200 Subscriptions: Gym Membership - $60 Netflix - $20 HBO - $15 YouTube TV - $65 YouTube Premium - $12 Apple iCloud - $1 Amazon Prime - $8 Total - $3,948 Base Salary: $120,800
And you call that “barely enough “?
What do you mean? There are retirement contributions (401k, HSA) and ESPP) that I haven’t even factored.
Also probably add take home pay and 401k contribution. Cause taxes take a lot. I have a similar salary and have less left over than I would have thought. Also add equity / bonus since you can cash those later if not right away, which is worth something.
I’ve maxed out 401k for the year already. Take home pay is about $3200 bi-weekly after a $755 deduction every paycheck for ESPP. I can’t add equity/bonus. Just want to live off my base.
I think you’re in quite good shape then since you have about $2.4K leftover each month plus you already contributed to your long term investments!
Good job on the charity !! Is youutube tv worth it keeping in mind all the other subscriptions u have ?
I’m a sports bro! I watch football 🏈, soccer, golf, tennis, UFC fights, WWE wrestling….for me, it’s worth it! Not to mention National Geographic, Discovery channels etc etc. I’ll watch news too 😂 1000%! The other subscriptions just have shows which are specific to the platform (wish there was unity for streaming but there isn’t).
So your monthly take home is ~$3k more than you fixed expenses? What’s the problem? Also, cell phone bill?

Can you provide your monthly take home salary (what your employer direct deposits)? I’d recommend cutting charity by $100, and cancelling YouTube Premium

Adding area of living might be helpful, include the total money you get in hand after tax each month too
