Hubspot performance review
Since Hubspot introduced a more strict perf review process (PIP, stack ranking?), what's this process like? Is there an objective set of criteria agreed upon between the IC and manager in advance or is it actual stack ranking? How often is the review cycle?
Not stack ranking. Its a dont coast policy, hired a lot of coasting deadweight in the pandemic engineering hiring frenzy. Main review once a year with a half year check in (you self rate and manager rate and you talk about it but neither filling out some big document) The ratings compressed a bit more around 3 (1-5 scale) than before. 3 means youre doing good for your role. I think if there was a fully objective way to measure engineers it would be industry standard by now. Its generally based on you delivering projects and work. Code is king so if you have big gaps of time not merging anything youd need good justification around what you were doing with the time.

lol nope. It’s just green square based management. They don’t care if you were doing planning and aligning with other teams with documentation to prove it. No code, too bad slacker
