Sorry that this post is only addressing only Indians while Blind has people from all ethnicity. Anybody planning to do a masters in the US, your chances of staying in the US is < 30% . You are coming here on a loan just think twice. It is so unfortunate to see that the US universities keep admitting a large number Indian students with absolutely no sight of what future will look like after graduation. 3 year STEM OPT for courses like MIS is only making the thing worse with more and more mediocre talent coming in. Plenty of students are reaching out to me and others like me on day 1 CPT options, O-1 and EB-1 after the recent H-1B. I see only a 30% success rate of H-1 within my company and I am pretty sure the numbers are quite similar elsewhere. The insane number of H-1 applicants from WITCH companies is leading to the situation being so bad. The real profit makers are day 1 cpt universities and LinkedIn influencers who are creating courses and newsletters to "help the helpless students". There are university wide tours with "Tackling immigration" sessions that many many immigrants just flock to. There is another parallel business milking their money giving them hope. Every conference and and session is filled with people with nothing but hope and helplessness on their face. Why not just admit less students? If you really need to retain talent, stop putting people at all levels in the same bracket. A masters from stanford and an infosys applicant are all in the same pool. Joke! So what happens to the talent visa? A top class Masters student in computer science from Stanford ends up leaving the US and a mediocre San Jose State graduate in management information systems stays back TC 200K
No. We prefer univs be transparent about employment opportunities for ALL international students. But especially transparent with India and China students about the possibility of long term employment.
What do you want them to do? Print out posters with big red warning that says, visa is difficult to get here? 🤦 Students should do their own research, talk to seniors, friends from same country on what they're going through. Why should a place offering education concerned about employment visa lottery?
At the same time we need to stay vigilant, because at any moment these millions of ppl will take your position
Just like you took someone’s job? Don’t be a jealous, R*jesh who believes in shutting the door after themselves.
Yes i slam the F out of the door after me. So what? Are you blind sadguru or something.
I honestly feel sorry for them too. I guess the solution can be that Indians should boycott us universities. So unfortunately its all demand and supply equation. Where usa system knows the desis will continue to be fooled by “। अमरीका” and they can fool us while giving all the love and support to ILLEGALS.
My one of the friend did bachelors from IIT Chennai and phd from Cornell didn’t get h1b. It was his second attempt. While someone from an Indian consultancy who is currently in India without a US master's degree and without a US job obtained an H1B. H1b is meant for people who are not deserving. If you become hiring manager in future, please don’t give job to someone who has not completed masters in US. That’s request.
The joke is on you.
What’s the joke? I have completed my masters from a prestigious US university. We suffer because of h1b. No need to make fun. And some hiring managers are very choosy and they are really good because they are choosy and don’t hire random person without masters. don’t forget that we do have 1 CPT option.
Students shud be educated about the challenges and difficulties of obtaining a work permit and permanent residency in USA before coming here.
You said it!
@amazon, there’s a massive gap. Couple of students I spoke to recently weren’t aware that they only had upto 3 chances in lottery. Students are lured about high paying jobs and swanky Instagram pics of frnds and relatives. In my case as well I got my H1b in 2014 but wasn’t aware of the immigration/GC challenges back then and took it easily and got my i140 only in 2018. If I was serious and went hard in 2014 I would’ve probably been closer to GC right now. I am now many decades behind in the queue. Also, my wife had to endure a prolonged wait to get her H4EAD which was depressing to say the least.
Because student fees and loans helps US economy. Estimated 130K students from India alone were admitted last year while H1B total cap is 85000. I tell students in India to only come and study in US if they can go back and get that loan paid off.
Which is impossible. In India max 10-15 lpa job is waiting for them. If they're good enough to get anything better, they shouldn't have a problem in the US.
I was making 30lpa with 3 YOE in India. Left my job to pursue my masters in CS. I'm graduating in May and I'm struggling to even find a job that pays 50k lol.
People like you are gem, who still have empathy for other people while still being at Amazon. Coming to your point, I believe universities do not have enough mechanisms to predict the job market at graduation. Therefore, they might feel counter intuitive to reduce the intake of international students. As others have pointed out, each individual should act in their own self interest. The incoming students should do their thorough research on job availability and have a back up plan in case they didn't get a job in the US.
Boo hoo.
Students coming to the United States for education are permitted for that purpose only - education. Get your degree and go home. It is not a free pass to stay in the country forever. Anyone who feels entitled to that is in the wrong. Not sure why universities should deny people seeking an education.
+1. So much entitlement here. Nothing is guaranteed. You should know that. Jobs aren't even guaranteed for American citizens. Lots of citizens are struggling.

Do people underestimate E6 role at meta?
Because admitting more students makes more money, irrespective of ethnicity. In fact, I have eavesdropped on my own university’s board meeting where I heard the president say each international grad student pays enough to support 3-4 local students. Imagine the price hike they are paying to get a Masters degree.
I agree with your point but "eavesdropping on university board meeting" is something you just pulled out of your ass.
I don’t need to prove anything to anyone, fact is stranger than fiction
