If there’s a salary cut what percentage is it ?
About 5-7
Yes
How about sunnyvale to Seattle/Kirkland?
When I moved the other direction they adjusted my salary by +4%. So probably yes.
But difference in CoL makes it totally worth it.
I heard one case where base was lowered by 10% when moving from Mountain View to irvine.
I got a 6% raise when moving from Irvine to Mountain View. Given that Google sees no problem decreasing base when you move to a cheaper place, yes I'd expect a small cut. However it's still a great deal financially as a similar apartment to the one I live here (with a similar 10 min commute) which costs hete $3200 was $1900 in Costa Mesa. Also you might get a $12k relo bonus which leaves you with a few extra k if you move smart.
Personal experience, 7% drop.
Probably small MRP delta given CoL adjustment. Check with HR but I'd guess maybe a 5% hit to base salary and no change in GSUs?
