Does india have similar tech salaries as US? Is tech also considered to be a top earning profession in India? If so, what’re the reasons Indians still prefer leaving india and settling in West? Isn’t it better to earn a lot in india and live like a king with domestic aid being so cheap?
India salaries aren’t as high as US salaries on average, but most Indian friends of mine work in the US and plan to retire in India
Salaries are high in US compared to India. But the net savings in hand after “almost” similar or better lifestyle will be relatively more in India.
Salary is 1/3 of Usa but lifestyle is far better with all the cheap service available.
Seriously? 1) Horrible air quality in most parts of India as compared to some of the best AQIs that one can see 2) one can own luxurious cars without paying bribes and heavy taxes. One can drive in US on much better road infrastructure. 3) Traffic is horrendous and is getting worse at some of the major cities. Speaking of heavy traffic, noise pollution is horrible in India. 4) USA preserves most of the nature through national parks and most zip codes have reasonable parks and play areas for kids. Not the case in India where landlord mafias grab and build buildings with out much planing. 5) Quality of organic food and sources in USA is much more reliable than India 6) one gets to eat Authentic food from some of the best cuisines around the world 7) get to interact with some of The smartest people from diverse backgrounds 8) lot of convenience in general as compared to India. 9) Energy prices and inflation except For the last 2 years is generally contained in USA as opposed to India 10) don’t have to worry about stray dogs and cow shit as I go for a run.
lol here we go again
Salaries in India have caught up to EU and Australia and almost to Canada. US is the only one with comparable TCs and even that is not possible today with recession. Infrastructure hasn't but even that will change soon with so many metros, highways, semi high speed trains, airports, nightlife, road tipping, camping, water sports going on - for cheap. Most young Indians should evaluate if they really want to slave away, especially in America. It's a risky trap and people are suffering here. Imagine taking lacs of loan, grinding your ass off in school and leetcode, finding a job, only to not be selected in bullcrap h1b lottery or getting laid off and having to leave within 60 days. Then go back to India and pay back that heavy education debt. You are now starting from behind where you would be if you skipped all of that US nonsense and just leetcoded right there. Life is very unstable in the US. Is it really worth it?
I am settling in the US because: - I like to breathe clean air. And I would like my children to not be forced into asthma by default. - I like being out in nature easily and frequently. I have access to trails and parks within a 5 min drive - and I live inside San Francisco city. - I like not having to hear the cacophonous orchestra of horns everywhere I go and at all times - I like to not have to worry about basic stuff like electricity, water and internet supply - I like the work culture of having a life outside of work on weekdays and having boundaries - I like being on the forefront of innovation (admittedly this is not as rare as it once was in India, but there’s a reason I’m in San Francisco) Everything else aside, literally the moment I have to breathe the air in any Indian city - whether Bengaluru or Gurgaon or Pune or Guwahati - I just cannot subject myself or my kids to it. There is not a single place in India that allows me to breathe free now, the way I used to as a kid.
Also, I have had 2 bike accidents in India because of POTHOLES. The second one, as my bike was wobbling, I had given up and thought I was going to die. Luckily I survived. The very next day, there was a newspaper report of someone on a motorcycle who had died because of the potholes on that SAME stretch of road. That was the day I decided - my life is not cheaper than whatever $ that pothole needed. The person / contractor who was responsible for not building that road properly made - whether because of the corruption or inefficiency or whatever you want to call it - does not get to kill me by neglect.
Just make sure not a victim of gun violence
Salary is less in India and lifestyle depends on which city you live in. For bigger cities like Mumbai, I find it expensive and too crowded.
Tech salaries in India are good, keeping in mind the cost of living. People move to US for prestige among their relatives back home.
Good part being rich in India is you can hire full time helpers for household chores, cooking, and all that stuff. In USA, you don’t have that luxury 😀
You can get a good salary but you cannot get good relatives
Salaries are catching up in recent time, this was not case earlier, definitely scene will change in next decade people will prefer to stay back in India
There is no way indian salaries will be as high as usa in our lifetime. 0% chance
We don’t need as high as US for salaries, considering US to India purchase power ratio is 4:1 , even getting 50-60% salary of US in India , makes India better choice
