I got a new offer. I haven't told my manager about it yet. I need to make use of all the holidays around 2 and half weeks so took those holidays and returning to office tomorrow. Also there is some sprint planning tomorrow morning.. Should I inform my manager about quitting tomorrow before sprint planning. Will it be considered unprofessional.. What do other managers think ? #software #engineering #quit
There is no best time to tell so don’t procastinate if you have decided.
Was in a similar situation. Just inform your manager before sprint planning so that they can plan it appropriately.
If you are on visa, I would recommend for h1 transfer to go through. Otherwise, like others said before sprint planning is the right thing to do
Ugh, I was gonna give notice tomorrow, I’ve received the Transfer Receipt. But now your comment makes me think if I should wait for approval. 😑 I’m so done already!
I would wait for transfer to be complete. There is a really slim chance that H1 is denied. Why take the risk
You need to be judge of your relationship with your manager and how well you know him/her. Conventional wisdom is to don't tell until you are near certain regardless of what impact it might have on planning. These are parts and parcel of manager job. Managers and companies won't think twice before passing you up for promotion and bunch of other ways they screw every employee
It's like asking other people not involved to decode when to tell GF of breakup. 🤣 no one other than you can tell and also like other said, not telling before last day at company will be even more unprofessional.
