I really enjoy data engineering and noticed outside of Google/Facebook this is rolled into a SWE role/path ( but sometimes still called a DE like at Netflix etc). I am assuming I need to LC still for L5 roles (Senior) and do system design interviews. I’m also considering interviewing for DE or similar roles at HFTs like Two Sigma as I will have my green card in the next year and I actually had some reach out (I have an Ivy League background but was only interested in FAANG and moving to the US at the time). Do the HFTs also follow LC style interviews or is there separate prep I need to do? For Netflix / Airbnb etc do I need just LC? If I get very good at LCing, system design and behaviour interviews, am I well prepared to land a nice offer for my next role next year? L4, TC ~250k, 8 YOE.
I think DE loops are usually a little different than swe in companies where DE is under engineering or same family as SWE. Sure there is leetcode but it's usually around easy/medium with a focus on strings, lists, and dictionary data structures. The system design is usually around data pipelines and setting up infra on cloud with batch/real time scenarios. How is the DE loop for Google?
Let me know if you need mock interview, have taken more than 200 in Amazon and google
