Is 10+ years of experience suitable candidate for TPM at L5 role at Amazon?

Hi, I'm not from the Silicon Valley cult but looking to join the club. Having an opportunity to work with brightest minds, why not? I'm applying for L5 TPM role at Amazon. I'm not sure if someone with 10+ years of experience in Software Engineering will fit at L5. From what I read here, L4 is freshers out of college and get promoted to L5 in 3 years. I've handled several projects in my past. Thought not at Amazon scale, my projects size runs into a few millions. I couldn't find much information about TPM. Is L5 suitable for someone with my experience? Could you please advise? Thanks.

What do you mean? Total compensation? I've a different post for that. In this thread, I'd like to check the job duties of L5 Amazon with someone with 10 years experience in non FAANG.

I think TPMs start at L5. You should shoot for L6 with 10 yoe

Honestly, it just depends on your experience in solving problems and handling people. There is no L4 TPM at Amazon (and for good reason) and you could consider L6. L6 matches your experience roughly, but I despise industry hire L6’s who don’t know how to be a TPM and take a reasonable project and drive it straight into the ground. Definitely something you can talk to a recruiter about.

This is good info. I read the job description of TPM and Sr TPM. It sounded to me, TPM have objectices defined while Sr TPM defined objectives. But thats, job decription. For practical purposes, what is the difference between Sr TPM and TPM role?
