I am a smts in VMware. I have got positive feedback from hr and they want to move ahead with the offer. Salary is not discussed yet. How is doordash doing? How is the work culture and wlb? How will it do in long term?
Trash tier
I think it’s a great company and has a huge potential to go up. However they need to innovate as their core business is a low margin business
Overall I have heard excellent things about their engineering work. In my opinion it’s an upgrade from VMWare
Upgrade from VMware - you are not serious, are you? We are an infrastructure / systems engineering company. Not very many players in our league and not comparable to a shop doing applications alone.
Please don’t take this offensive. I am not letting down VMWare. All I am saying is that the upside is much more in DoorDash (there is downside too). Also it’s a startup and you will do more work and learn a lot more. For that matter it’s an upgrade from LinkedIn as well
knew a few vmware folks. not good. Worse managers poured in the company. As people said, it has been a shitshow for sure. When I had a good manager, it was kinda worth it. Otherwise, it ruined my life.
Good long term prospects
How is wlb?
Great. People work hard but doesn't seem like a grinder like fb amzn etc
Lesson from Uber is, keep in mind DD is not profitable and that their public valuation will be a lot lower then their private valuation, if they IPO anytime soon. If they don’t IPO soon, then you won’t be able to cash out for a while. Which is something to keep in mind for example if you want to buy a house in the next couple years. Right now, DoorDash is offering crazy incentives to riders/drivers and that’s not sustainable at all. They don’t have to report earnings in an official way. Of course all being said, they have a much better restaurant selection than Uber Eats due to supporting Over The Top trips, where the driver has to arrange the order themselves.
Thanks
No I had an offer last year and talked to many folks in leadership, from manager to VP. It seemed like their leadership is very immature, most were in ~20s, handling that role for the first time. I spoke to others who work there and the feedback I got was very negative.
No. Interviewed there. They bait and switch.
