What is the ranking exactly of companies "good to have on resume" and make you more hire-able? Is FAANG unmatched in this regard, or are non-FAANG companies good also?
FAANG > Pinterest > Splunk I’d probably prefer someone from pinterest but that’s just me
What’s more important to work on? Data analytics and security monitoring or recipes for Moms. You decide.
Whatever makes you money and gives you more marketable skills. If recipes for Moms opens up 10 other high tier opportunities because of the tech stack and scale you need to master, but security monitoring has like 3 players in the space, you want the former. It’s a bit of a sad truth. Why a teachers TC is lower than a SWEs, when the teacher does far more important work.
What you’re working on is more important than where you work. Where you’ve worked may get you easier to get interviews, but what you’ve worked on makes it easier to get the job.
Yeah I'm talking about the "easier to get interviews" part tho
FNG > Pinterest = Apple > Amazon. Never heard of Splunk
Eh, I get enough recruiter emails to the point it's getting kinda annoying. If you're into building data querying and analytics software then Splunk will be fine. FAANG would be better for a wider variety of teams and projects.
Referral pls 🥺
Not splunk for sure
They are just as good. Your interview performance is what matters the most. You probably have an easy time getting calls from recruiters at the current hot market too
Netflix > Pinterest > Google = Facebook > Apple > Amazon > Splunk
Pinterest is no way even close to FG
I was simply referring to brand value on resume. Whenever I see pinterest on resume, very likely that candidate had offers from Google, Fb but chose pinterest (higher hiringbar for pinterest). I am curious why you as pinterest employee differ on this take?
Talent pool at splunk has diluted a lot. It's the company and the time period that matters. Splunk/Pinterest eng in early days were much knowledgeable. Now all the systems are mostly in place . There is barely any new green field project to sharpen your skills
Pinterest > Amazon.
Even FAANGs aren’t equal
