Is promotion without salary increase normal?

Edit: just remembered they have changed the process a little bit and moved the salary and role change reviews to another date so I think they happen together. I’m going to try to find more info on that. I got a promotion from junior to mid, and did not see any salary change in my last 2 payslips. I thought I got an increase as I saw my pay in workday was different than my salary. However I actually saw the wrong thing and misread the total pay as “base salary”. It seems like I got a promotion but no salary increase? Is this normal?? My other teammates who got promoted from junior to mid had got a 15-30% salary increase. However my circumstance was weird as my old manager did a shitty review so I got a salary increase after 1 yr (instead of promotion) and promotion after 1.5 years. Tc: 80k….. without salary increase. I would love to change but I’m not sure if the market is hiring midlevel engineers also the country i live in doesn’t have a big tech industry Yoe: 2

Usually when they tell you about the promotion, they also tell you about the associated raise. Yes, it's strange not to get a raise with a promotion, unless it's at a really small company. Ask your manager.

Because shit like this happens all the time to women. Talk to your manager and ask about a compensation review now that you have a promotion. If your manager doesn’t support you, then start interviewing elsewhere as they will continue to treat you like shit for your entire time there. Also warn the other women in the company that the company is extremely sexist and actively encourage them to find work elsewhere. If and when you find another job, do not give them any notice as one day not working for your future new employer is money out of your pocket. If your current employer insists you give notice (or if there are laws that require you to give notice), then ask for garden duty if that’s something you can do. Again, get the fuck out of there even if they give you a raise because let’s face it, your raise won’t be as much as they would give a man.
