I am hearing that several companies are pushing their engineers to comeback to the office orgs like AWS, Intel, etc is that true?
Aws is remote for a large part
Google too. Several companies that were in the same batch as mine in YC that were focused on remote work tools and platforms threw in their towels recently citing reversal in trend and too many companies chasing far smaller opportunity than originally anticipated.
At Amazon my team is full remote
Remote can be cheaper labor.
250k elsewhere for the same caliber of employee goes further for both parties than 450k in super expensive cities. I have been remote for quite some time and see no downturn in this
AWS is still remote. Remote is the norm where I’m at. 🤷♀️
Google is hybrid, and my entire team is in the office most days
Not for Intel. Intel is encouraging hybrid where possible
Just started working at a company that is fully remote, it's not dead for smaller companies and allows them to compete for talent with the big boys that are forcing return to office. Intel is pushing hybrid which is the worst of both worlds IMO.
Great way to meet URA/PIP targets by weeding out employees who don't bend the knee.
Wfh should save companies tons of money. Companies that can truly adapt to it will have an edge as long as they can keep employees motivated. That being said, going into the office is nice.
Yes, but if you need a crude axe with which to cut headcount...nothing like terminating for cause :(
