I’m considering taking a contract at Netflix for ~180% of my usual hourly rate. But I here it’s toxic there and even FTEs are worried about being fired on the daily. Any enlightenment from within?
I’m not worried of being fired... why would I? You just have to perform. Also as any company, your experience will depend on the team and product. Which team are you interviewing for?
There are personality types that are better suited for Netflix because it can be fearful seeing people fired regularly. If you’re someone that worries a lot then it might not be great for you.
People who are skilled enough and thrive in the culture do fine. Ones who do not thrive on the cultural do not. Firings are rarely about skill.
No
Don't come to Netflix unless you're good at politics, backstabbing and taking credit for other people's work. Firing is never about performance as other folks have called out.
Expect to make it for a year. They will discard you after a year.
Why would you go from FTE to a contractor?
Sounds like OP is a contractor at Google too
Right
