Hello! I recently received an offer from both JPMC in Columbus, Ohio and Boeing in Saint Louis, Missouri. I’m leaning more towards Boeing because the interviewers were more friendly and the project sounds more interesting. Thoughts for someone with 1 year of experience who wants to work at the better WLB company. Thanks, appreciate y’all! JPMC - 115k base + 15k bonus (received every Jan), 3 days in office Boeing - 100k base + 15k bonus + relocation assistance, 5 days in office #engineering #software #swe #jpmorgan #jpmorganchase #boeing #career
I wouldn't want to be a young person in either of those boring ass towns.
I think the Saint Louis area is pretty cool, but if you’re comparing it to top-tier cities like NYC and LA then yeah lol. Forest Park is definitely the best park I’ve ever been to (although I’ve only been to Central Park once, and this is also from the perspective of a runner), the bar scene is pretty good in the areas surrounding the city (and no laws against open container make day drinking more fun), and the cost of rent is close to half of what’s is typically considered more MCOL areas like Atlanta or Boulder. Personally my biggest gripes with STL are problems with the state of Missouri itself. But I think STL, Columbia, and KC are the diamonds in the rough of Missouri.
Who is young? I am 32 with kids bud. Austin and Columbus are good as it gets in us to raise a family
OP is young, 1 YoE. I wasn't replying to you
If you value WLB and virtual over total dineros, then Boeing is the big choice. And managers are generally pretty good natured. Gone through 6 of them and only 1 was a micromanager. I will say long term growth, financially, you will probably slow down with Boeing. Hope this helps.
Boeing will pay for your masters degree and gives 10% 401k match. That is an extra 10k per year. Not sure what jpmc gives for bens
if you want to further your education, Boeing can't be beat. they have one of the best tuition assistance programs out there. (free $)
No offense but you will get better experience at JPMC. Working at defense companies will pigeon hole you. Additionally education assistance is capped federally and almost every company will meet that cap.
Boeing WLB is unmatched and seems like you like the project better. Also Columbus >> St. Louis. Depends on how you value a $15k pay difference.

Why is everyone here so obsessed about green card?
130k for 1 Yoe. Visa is really paying peanuts. I am only getting 180k as staff in Texas 😂
