I keep getting pinged by randos on LinkedIn for Jane Street and other HFTs with sweet salaries ($500-1mm). Salaries are legit even if they’re quoting the high end, but is this how HFTs do recruiting? Or are they just opportunistic and I’m getting bamboozled?
Same lol
How do you prepare for the interviews?
JS has internal recruiters AFAIK
Yep
We seem to kind of just wait for candidates to apply to us (or get referred)? Don't remember hearing from any recruiters prior to joining...
I had head hunter reach out to me about optiver right before I took virtu
Do you remember if it was internal or from an agency?
We have a form on our website. Just apply directly. There's no need for a middleman.
They do have internal recruiters. My friend got pinged by first party ones on LinkedIn before.
You should apply directly if you can, headhunters take a cut
it will be a cut from the candidate's salary instead of external?
Both has internal recruiters

Pretty standard at that grade for all financial institutions. Get a specalized headhunting agency do all the filtering and qualification check so you dont have to worry about it, internal HR is usually not staffed/qualified to to evaluate specialzed skillsets like HFT. Its better for you in the end, the agency makes a percentage of what you make so theyll fight for the best deal.
If I am aiming for a high end salary (otherwise not a lot of upside from the current one), will it be a problem if the company thinking the budget as total of pay to me and the headhunter? (Not sure if they do this though…
