What is the right strategy when job hopping? Are you supposed to hop after you get promoted? I have 8 months of experience from MSFT and a year at a prev. company that is not software engineer related. I was curious to know about job hopping since I plan on looking for another job in 1-2 years. Mostly for a higher TC, since I got lowballed here. Yoe : 1 TC: 120k
Bounce when you get a big enough TC bump. This occurs for many after 4 years and there is a drop in TC after initial grant vested.
I hate job hoppers as much as grasshoppers
This sentiment is more prevalent in Finance than in Engineering
Why? Don’t you invest anything in your employees? I fucking train my new hires, and it sucks when they leave
I have 1.5 yoe and am at my 4th swe job. TC went from $35k to $110k. It doesn't seem like anybody cares honestly, at least for non-executive roles. I want to apply my skills to many industries and I always busy my ass to make the best possible solution to any problem. No real strategy, just be honest with the interviewer and yourself.
