Are only non-US citizens being laid off from these companies in the news? I was recently interviewing for a few companies. They all told me they're only hiring US citizens as per recent policy. Anyone have any ideas / insight? yoe: 5 tc: 260
that's a half-baked hypothesis at best
yeah but there has to be a better reason for SO many people being laid off across industries and only in the US. I'm not hearing these layoff stories from other countries. it's completely disproportionate in the US at 180k people compared to the next country which only had 16k (India).
I’ve heard the opposite where hiring is only being done in India
They don’t care we are just a number
But why only the US?? I want to understand what happened
Labor protections in USA are not great
It would be illegal if true and you’d see lawsuits flying.
but if it's a govt policy to cut them then it may not be illegal
Not sure where you have the idea that it would be illegal. Would definitely not be illegal. Immigrants are not a protected class. It’s more expensive, requires more paperwork, and lots of companies don’t even have the capability. Not to mention it’s encoded into law that companies need to hire US citizens before immigrants. It’s just that everyone openly ignores that law.
Untrue. TikTok typically sponsors visas for 2-1 or 2-2 level and above. DM for a referral
lmao, nice touch
*bows*
They should be. It’s downright illegal to be hiring clowns on visa given how much local talent is available right now
by pipqueen are you the one pip'ing ppl or being pip'd?
What about GC holders?
Why would they lay off indentured servants to hire people with more freedom and rights? These companies are the biggest reason the H1B fiasco is the way it is
Maybe there was some policy that was pushed down from the govt idk I'm just trying to figure it out
A government policy that was pushed down on so many companies, yet, wasn't leaked by any single person? Bruh.
