Hey all -- with all the news showing up everywhere around Layoffs I wanted to start a thread with data on Ongoing Layoffs + Reference + Any Experiences. My wife was impacted in the most recent layoffs at google Google layoffs Discord 17 Percent Layoffs Citi 20k Layofss Meta Layoffs Any others to share data, experiences, information on additional or the layoffs listed above? Just want to hear your experience and thoughts.
Discord Layoffs are less than 200.
That is the trick. When absolute numbers are small, they use percentages to make it look big. Discord is 170 employees or 17% of the workforce. Obviously, 17% gets more clicks for the news.
Click bait news 😱
Google 30k or 3k or news say just hundreds?
Started with straight up disinformation. Google has not laid off 30k employees. The layoffs are still on but they’re nowhere close to this number rn
Twitch and Amazon Layoffs

Google lay-off ongoing, and it sucks balls. PA announcing layoff just for their PA at random, some PA only at the VP level. Everybody stressed. Seems 1k lay-off so far and sundar has said nothing Also Unity cut 1/4 of staff.
Google has laid off 700 in the Bay Area alone and that is already. It’s not like huge but not tiny either Seattle times reports at least 150 there https://www.mercurynews.com/2024/01/11/google-job-cut-layoff-tech-economy-unity-block-mountain-view-sunnyale/
