Question for amazon folks. If I reveal to my manager that I am leaving for Google, what will happen? I currently work in marketing and my prospective team is in google devices (written offer for 330 TC) Asking because a marketing colleague who left for a Microsoft marketing team was asked to leave on the same day he put in his notice. I’m not sure of the details and like to plan giving my notice accordingly Any help appreciated! Current TC 175 UX #amazon #competitor #google #career
Try not to reveal the name. Say that you have a couple of offers without revealing names. But if you really work in area where u hold information that can benefit competitor then u will be anyway asked to leave early. So be ready for that.
This is normal. They'd rather pay for your two weeks then to let you stay and steal all the secrets.
Depends where you live. In Canada Ontario if you put in your 2 weeks then you must be paid for the time in full -even if they want to dismiss you early.
If you're working on similar products, maybe you get walked out. I doubt they'll care. I've seen coworkers go to FB/Goog and no one cares. They even have a goodbye happy hour for them. Seriously, Amazon's attrition problem is through the roof. If they go toxic on you, everyone around you will take notice and GTFO. And with mostly remote work, who cares if you get walked out? Just make sure you get any info/docs/etc. (or doctor/dentist appointments if you're using your insurance for example) you need before giving notice.
bro just lie. say some crappy company. not like they'll know until you leave and update linkedin.

What happens when most of your team is Indian?
In extreme cases, they can walk you out that day. There is no benefit in saying where you're going.
I mean benefit of them walking you out is that you get paid for free
Do you really? I'd think they'd use a clause from the employment agreement to not pay you more than the days worked. But I haven't been in this situation so idk for sure.
