Let go from aws

About 2years ago, I was fired from aws due to a manager that had it out for me. Essentially made my life miserable. I'm looking at trying to get back there but not sure how it looks internally when I apply. I don't know if I was flagged as no rehire, and have no visibility on this. Would love any feedback or thoughts. I also live in a completely different city now and see some positions available here that are right in my ally. Also, yes, had a bad boss, but liked what I did and want to go back. Any help/advise from hr peeps would be appreciated.

Don't, just don't: https://sites.google.com/site/thefaceofamazon/ . You were there when new york times news happened.

If the manager wasn't fired but was highly regarded, you probably won't have a chance as people will ask him about you.

Check linkedin or something to find out your old bosses current position.

He's still there but I had a new boss that was forced to do this because the one that put me in that situation took a new role.

I just quit Amazon 3 months ago due to same manager bullshit - never going back. I gave up $300K unvested RSUs and don't care a bit. I've read that there is an internal "to fire" list that managers are keeping all the time so that they can keep firing enemies of their friends whom they want to promote. Saw this first hand - one of my managers from Microsoft only promoted people hired from Microsoft . Another guy got promoted because his manager and him were from same previous company.

Internal "to fire" list? 🤦‍♂️ Sigh.

Don't waste your time thinking about it. Usually getting fired from a company makes you un-hireable at the company. I'm pretty sure HR sided with your manager (they usually do) and they keep notes. Why do you love Amazon when it's clear they don't love you? Do you also think the fault is entirely your managers? The culture at the company is set by Bezos and the blame starts with him. There are better places to work at.

Never say never. I know many people that were on a PIP, and they pushed back and are now thriving in their current role and other teams. Your getting fired doesn't have anything to do with what you're capable of. It's worth taking a chance, so apply and if you get a cold no from a recruiter then stop. In the last one year many teams at Amazon have evolved their hiring practices and managers have come around. It could've simply been that that manager, in that context thought you didn't perform. People grow, they change and mature. So I'd say just apply or reach out to a recruiter. You never win the battle you don't fight.

They pushed back while they were on PIP or they pushed back on the rehiring process? It's important because my family is going through PIP and they are struggling.
