I dislike having to interview every 1 or 2 years just to keep my pay on par with market rates. What are companies who proactively raise compensation for high performers? I’ve heard Meta has generous refreshers + multipliers. Let’s make a list. 1. Meta 2. Stripe 3. Apple 4. Uber 5. Snap 6. Netflix 7. ???
Albertson
Nice. Can you share more on how Twitter refresher / performance Bono’s works?
I just have friends there for a long time. They have shared that their refreshers are meaningful and keep them happy. I think this is in part because fb is a direct competitor so Twitter knows it has to compete
My buddy left meta but he hit 800k+ with performance refreshers as E6 or L6 staff level. Insane stuff over there
Yes heard the same crazy stories
Stripe kicks ass in this area. If you’re a top performer, you’re not leaving!
Great. Can you share more how Stripe rewards its high performers?
How do they manage that with private paper stock?
Apple. Friend went from 140k to 600k in 3 years due to performance refreshers every 6 mo
That’s insane. I always thought Apple didn’t pay that well.
The culture is different there. At Amazon (have worked there) it’s about big salaries to bring people in, but once you’re in they don’t care too much to retain. At apple, new hires they don’t pay well but top performers they’ll do anything to retain.
Idk if meta is still true. Moving to 1 year PSC cycle (and reducing multipliers) means that top performers are now rewarded less
They also capped the GE multiplier now, so for rockstar upside is capped
What’s a GE multiplier
Stripe Haha, i wish that was true
Amazon doesn’t give you refreshers?
Technically yes but couple of problems: - My rating dictates my TC target, which falls in a band - The top band is only about 75% market rate and only top tier year over year would reach that - I only get refreshers if my TC is lower than the target - I only get refreshers for the next and next next year, not the immediate upcoming year - they count imaginary 15% stock yoy growth to the refreshers
Avoid Amazon at all costs. They treat you as shit
not Amazon
NOT Amazon
Not amazon?
Houzz
Awesome. Could you share more how Houzz refreshers and/or bonus work?
As a strong performer over the years, I’ve seen my base salary and stock options (and then RSUs) go up quite a bit. It’s not super structured, but with promotion and review cycle, my comp keeps going up.
