Update: they emailed back and said I could interview as an ic2. I still feel a bit cheated with 4 yoe and feel like I should get ic3, but even ic1 isl better than Lockheed so maybe I should take what I can get. Oracle wants me to come interview for an ic1 position. I think that for 4 yoe that's not worth going down in level, however even ic1 at Oracle is above senior software at LM. Oracle said I could potentially get an ic2 offer in the interview, but I'm tired of interviewing and only want to go if it's guaranteed ic2 at least. Oracle comp: 155k accordingly to levels.fyi Lockheed senior: 125k levels.fyi, might negotiate a little. Both roles should be remote. Is it worth a potential downlevel to ic1? Do I have enough yoe for ic3?
with 4 YOE I’m IC3
See dude, maybe I should ask to interview as that. I just got an email back saying they can interview as ic2 but I feel cheated you know?
4yoe doing what? The "what" matters most.
If you want money you need to leave defense.
You are already at Lockheed
Lockheed internal promotion.
Can take 6 months for offer to go to written offer at oracle. Many get rescinded
Just curious, what were you making as a Level 2 at LM? I’m looking to get senior soon.
Like 105k, fort worth. I negotiated from like 94k to 97k when I first started
Wow 6 years ago I was making 81k in fort worth and that was past the midpoint of the band . Inflation is crazy
Do you have an internal offer on paper as an IC3? I'd expect HR to give you some shit for being under the minimum (5yoe), unless you have a masters.
Yeh, there a couple lvl 3 remotes that want me, one of them i pulled some strings with a guy I knew and they opened a rec for me, one I cold applied and they saw I did dso and corporate needs help with there pipeline templates, and one is with the AI guys but that one isn't guaranteed and it's super competitive
Until you have a real offer in hand I wouldn't put it past HR turning an L3 req into an L2 offer.
I would recommend going through the interview process. I would push for an IC2. But that would depend on how well you do on the interview. You never know, maybe the interview panel would recommend IC 3.
Oracle never
Why not?
I'm an ic3 with 12 years of experience and let me tell you. Nothing I did outside of this company mattered for this company's work. You code like a goddamn rockstar? Great. Doesn't matter here. You'll spend all of your time writing up reports and documents begging for permission to add a single button that will take 6 months to get approvals for. Do I code here? Barely. Do I write cms? You better believe it. It's about all they let you do. That and answering customer support tickets. And I think for half the salary I could be doing so much more. With so much less documentation.
Oracle any day
