Problem with Manager

I think for most the WLB is fine. Apologies for the following rant. The issue for a lot of us is that there is 0 meaningful work being done here. The company is also run top down, very bureaucratically, so anything you want to get approved comes with miles of red tape that you need to go through. If the project you want to work on needs an additional budget? Good luck. Want to change a slide deck you've been using for 2 years and update the format? Prepare for 20 meetings and months of bickering before getting the OK to modify the slides. Shit like that. It's soul sucking. Add on the looming threat of yet another round of layoffs, (internal rumors and the latest adjustment to RSU vesting make it seem probable), and you have a lot of miserable employees. No promotions this year for ICs, but we see execs getting new titles every quarter. Work has become VERY siloed because everyone wants the individual credit for work, otherwise you risk being labeled a low-performer. Oh, and how about multiple teams serving the same job function as your own within the same organization in an attempt to pit you all against each other and compete for the same work? That shit is happening with my team right now. It was very collaborative when I joined almost 9 years ago, and the working environment is basically unrecognizable. The worst part is that maybe we could put up with this stress if they paid us well, but they pay us 🥜 compared to other companies in the area.

I worked at T-Mobile about 8 years ago in Seattle area and haven't looked back since. It's good to move on and learn new things
