'Hindutva': The Radical Hindu Ideology That Seeks to 'Push Christianity Out of Indiaβ
I am not sure what went wrong. Just looking for a feedback to improve for future . I appeared for Lyft onsite couple of days back and according to me all rounds went well . 1. Laptop Test - Did get working solution covering all test cases 2 Experience - Had a very good chat with Hiring Manager about my experience , describing my current project , challenges faced and solutions found 3 CS fundamentals - a question i solved pretty quick and it covered all cases which interviewer wanted ( this turned out to be only 30 mins rounds instead of full 60 mins ) There were no follow up questions 4 Design and Architecture - Had full working design along with answering all questions interviewer had Just looking for my areas of improvement so i can work on those problems π Can some confirm if they received offer in last week - Is Lyft hiring or this is due to hiring freeze ? Edit : I interview at senior software engineer level
If you really did well, itβs really bad they are wasting your time :( Interviews are weird sometimes. This year I had 9 screens interviews, I got 8 approvals(only one company asked for a second review and I nailed it). The only company that rejected me was the one that I thought I had the best interview
I am not saying they are wasting time , I just want to understand how I should improve for future . If I know the problem I can try again and not repeat same mistake π
I had a similar experience with Lyft. Everything went well but they said no. Most likely partial hire freeze is the only explanation.
Lol ! No a female of another race π
A lot of open roles are being terminated or repurposed at Lyft right now. Not the best time to interview right now. Some companies are low-balling with offers as well!
Which level?
I had similar experience. Recruiter told me feedback is positive but rejected me because someone else has more relevant experience.
Sometimes the candidate feels that they did well but in reality did not. For example, in the Design & Arch interview, having a full working design is not the same as having a good design. Answering all questions the interviewer has does not mean that you gave satisfactory answers. The scope of each session is usually limited to the scope of the candidates knowledge, which is why some candidates feel like they did so well but in reality, the scope of the interview was never expanded to more complex areas or questions. Like if you have a 4 step problem and the candidate struggles with step 1 or 2 but solves them, thinking that they did well, but they took the same time to solve half the problem as someone that would have completed all steps.
Thanks for sharing your detailed perspective. Very helpful.Any suggestions on how to improve Design and Architecture ? what are the indicators which interviewers use to call a candidate 100% pass vs on boundary ? Just some example to learn how this round is evaluated and how I can prepare for future
Depends on what role you interviewed for and hard to give feedback without seeing your actual session. In general it comes down to what patterns you used and how you used them, how you adapt to new requirements, how your code adapts to new requirements, how easy it is to unit test with your architecture, how responsibility is distributed, etc.
Lyft is a taxicab company and is affected by the downturn. Where do people take taxicabs? To cruise. ships. To airports. To restaurants. It may not be you, it might be Lyft. Lyft was very unprofitable before covid-19, even more unprofitable now. If I were running Lyft I would only hire engineers able to pay their own salary with annual compute savings.
Maybe someone else was better fit Maybe they hired internally Maybe they didn't think you would fit with the team Maybe your personality Maybe someone did better Who knows.
π factors out of control. True ! I will make my peace and keep learning
