Are there any banks that are working on some cool ml stuff? Wondering what kinds of resources you should look at if you want to transfer into a team that works in ML at a bank. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
JPM with AML/KYC stuff
Capital One
No, you're not. Uncle Rich just likes to preach that you are. Eno, the most clear-cut ML project at C1, uses an LSTM that is trained to spit out specific, quirky phrases rather than generative text, which is the exact opposite of the purpose of LSTMs. Also, there's a grand total of about 20 ML jobs out of about 20,000 to 50,000 software engineer jobs in the company.
Capital One employs just under 50,000 people and you think there are 20,000 SWEs???
Capital one Dallas office leadership is awesome for ML.
Capital One in NYC
If you wanna do ml at a bank, capital one is the place to be.
We have a ton all over the company (both divisions and locations) . Personally I think some of the fraud and marketing use cases are the most interesting.
Atleast, as far as I know, Banks(trading) have been using ML in some form for a long time before it hit the street...
To transfer to such a team, u would need either someone who can vouch for you or lady luck
Second that Capital One is very actively recruiting in ML. JPMC has fraud detection and image recognition (check handwriting). Moody's (not banking but bank related) is also expanding in ML, recently working on using alternative data to do default predictions.
