I hate how my manager disrespects people! Not only he disrespects me but always trying to show he is more powerful (also in front of other teams, which often is humiliating) and always wants to have the last word!! I have been in research for 10 years and this is the first time I hate so much working at a place! Clearly managers are too arrogant to believe only their view and paths are the correct one! I see more and more ridiculous situatioms where we develop 2 or 3 times the same subproduct and then arbitrarily decide whichever version we keep. Total lack of coordination, lack of transparency, and just burning money in an innefficient manner!!! May I remind all the managers that this is not the army and IC are not dogs who have no say over their projects or directions!! I hate it!!! Plus they know you are on visa and cannot complain directly or indirectly or they retaliate immediately in any way they can!!!
Sounds like Apple
Yep, too many egotistical middle managers
Hmm didn’t know culture at Apple is this bad , look for opportunities outside
Shouldn't you be reporting to HR ? Visa or not, they can't just fire you .
They can. Guess who gets canned in manager vs. employee conflict?
Not for that reason. They’ll pick something else.
This is common behavior with Apple managers. I see in my team as well in Apple
I am with you. I don't think visa is always the issue though, everyone can get unlucky with idiotic managers/toxic culture. It's just harder to switch the job if you're on the visa.
Are you at IS&T? I had the same exact experience and left that place in disgust. Regardless, it is very unhealthy to your psyche and ego. Unless you have to have this job for immediate financial reasons, I suggest you look elsewhere. Life is short, and sure you didn’t push your 20 year old self hard, to work under these assholes.
