[Reposting from Meta's internal channel] These are the glorious Micro kitchens at Meta in every building. Even the Kitchen at AWS were lot more stocked than this. All this after the layoff.
Wow. What a hit to morale it must be…
Kitchens at AWS? There isn't anything like that. There are ahit quality food you pay full price for and same tier cafe where baristas don't know how to make simple coffee.
I was there pre-Covid for 8 years. We used to have lot of team budgets to buy snacks and fill the kitchen. Don't know the situation after Covid.
@abubvgkl it’s pretty common to have snack area for your team/org. If you don’t have one, you can show some bias for action and work with your manager to expense some. Insist on the highest standards for your team.
At least you still have the flamin’ hots tho. Priorities.
They may save few jobs in future layoffs by stopping free food. Perhaps not that bad as it looks. We must embrace new world of ‘year of efficiency’ and keep costs under control.
Or they could have saved by not giving all Executives an Exceed rating. https://nypost.com/2023/04/21/meta-employees-grill-mark-zuckerberg-over-executive-bonuses-amid-layoffs/
Agree. I am shocked the way they do layoffs . My friend in facebook mentioned mgrs and higher levels were not touched during 1st round. All layoffs were done at IC level. Later 2nd round of layoffs in Fb had mgrs involved? I guess there should be 3rd round for execs and zuck should be included
They must have mistakenly laid off the kitchen guy who supplies them with goods.
As a Refrigerator Guy ,i can confirm this.
