Was preparing for my second round interview for a Product Analytics DS position with FB/Meta that was set for the next week (after asking for a week push due to a go-live being pushed at work), and was then informed at the end of last week that the Data Science positions are going through a hiring freeze given the high volumes of interest shown during the most recent period. This was the day after the stock crash so I was wondering if there was a correlation or if simply slots were filled and I'm SOL due to the timing of interviews. SWE friends interviewing for Meta didn't seem to be affected. I was also told by the recruiter I've been flagged for priority when (if) hiring starts back up. Anyone have any insight on whether this is given the circumstances or it's something about me? #interviews #facebook #meta #datascience
I finished my last virtual on-site 30min before the price drop🤦♂️ Waiting to hear back.
Which location and what level are you interviewing for? I have a virtual onsite scheduled for next week and it hasn't been cancelled yet. I'm interviewing for an E5 position in LA.
I had the exact same message delivered to me last week for the same role w/ Meta. The recruiter claimed that it was completely unrelated to the stock crash, but frankly I find that a little hard to believe. Nonetheless, I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one!
I don’t think it would have anything to do with the stock crash other than the fact that the team may be taking a new direction and reassessing the DS role requirement
It’s not the crash, the reason is mentioned by someone else above. Revenue for FB didn’t quite decline, and to be honest - do you expect overnight decisions made to stop hiring with stock crash for a 80k person company? It just doesn’t move that fast.
How was your first round, wht sqls n python did you solved?
oh lol, guess I shouldn't hold my breath for my Meta recruiter appointment
I was reached out for scheduling onsite today!
Recruiter has not responded since the stock crash
This probably means they expect the stock to go back up.
Yes they are touching their crystal balls as we speak
I still have my interview this week. Was scheduled before the drop
A friend has also been slow rolled in the interview process ever since the price drop
As in they've also been informed that they have to cancel the scheduled interview until further notice?
They got a call back to a second interview. The recruiter wanted to coordinate and schedule. The recruiter has since ghosted since the stock drop.
