Will get an offer from Micron SSD R&D. Currently technologist at WD. What's the micron level (E5 or higher?) to Technologist (western digital)? what's the TC should I ask for (currently around 210k TC)? Thanks for sharing info. PS: in WD a typical promotion path is: senior (fresh MS)->staff(Fresh PhD)->principle->technologist-> Senior technologist -> fellow #semiconductor #micron #hardware
Boise or CA? And it's equivalent in E5
Did you got an offer ? Would you like to share details ?
It should be around E6.
E4(senior) in micron is much respected position. E2 (fresh m.s.) e3 (good PhD), so in your case definitely E5 at Max.
How do senior engineer, staff engineer, principal engineer, … etc, correspond to the E level?
E4 senior, staff, e5 principal, e6 smts. Staff is fuzzy level it depends on team I guess. Others can comment on staff position, it's not very common to have staff title. Generally it's engg, Sr engg, prin engg and so on
E1, e2, e3 have same title I.e. engineer
BS students with no experience join at e1. Ms join at e2, PhD at e3
Got E2 with a BS and 0 YOE.
What does a technologist do at WD? I know technologist at intel who were pretty much collecting data so trying to understand how it differs in WD?
it's a title, not a job function. Similar to Senior Staff in legacy Sandisk hierachy
So what do you do as a technologist? Is it like a device engineer or a characterization engineer?
