Microsoft C+AiP Identity Interview Event
I got an invite from a recruiter to attend an invite only hiring event at Micrsoft’s Redmond HQ. The hiring event is for the Identity Engineering Team. The event is just a couple of weeks from now and I dont have much time to prepare. And before I dive into leetcode I wanted to know more about this team and if it’s a good role for a SDE 1. Identity is an org with 1500 people, so there’s probably a 100 teams under it. WLB is good in general and work is interesting. With 8 months of exp, you’re looking at SDE 1, mostly 59, unless you have an MS. Might be able to push for 60 if you have a competing offer. LC medium level or CTCI type questions is where you should focus, IMHO.
Really appreciate the reply! I do have an MS degree. It’s good that’s there is WLB, but what about the work itself? Does it have ample opportunity and challenges for me to learn and grow as a developer?
On the whole the answer is yes. Teams are tier 0 or 1, will have a lot of important work, ie space to shine. Of course there are teams that are internal facing (think tooling) that one might look at and say ‘I wouldn’t wanna do that work coz it’s boring’. With MS you should definitely push for (minimum) 60. Might be able to get SDE 2 (61) if you kill it in the interviews plus you’re prepared to walk away as well.
