Microsoft Researcher compensation
I've been working in research in Europe and will be interviewing soon for a Senior Researcher position at Microsoft. Within their initial HR questions, they ask what my salary expectations would be. Tbh I have no idea what are the proper scales for this, a look through Glassdoor shows something around 190k!. This is several times my compensation in Europe. What is the actual pay range for these positions? Should I ask for a L63 range given the name of the position? (I have a PhD +2 yoe) TC 58.5k YoE PhD+2
What field for research? Also the salaries are lower for Europe than US generally. For those initial expectation questions don’t give a number, just say you’d want to consider the whole package including location/team/level/benefits.
Applied Science/ physics
Not sure what kind of researcher you are, for example it’s pretty standard for a senior UX researcher to make 190k TC.
