I interviewed at Microsoft about 5 weeks ago. I haven’t heard a decision back yet. I emailed the recruiter 2 weeks ago who indicated she was still waiting on feedback. Is this normal? Expectations for next steps weren’t super clear.
This isn't normal. Send her another email. She must have heard the feedback but the odds of positive result is low since she hasn't contacted you. Good luck.
I would think if the feedback was negative, I’d hear back pretty quickly with a “no”, right?
Recruiters get no rewards and no penalty for not informing you so I have seen some recruiters take the easy route of not informing consider their other priorities until you follow up multiple times. I don't mean that you are rejected. They might also be considering other candidate who they think is better than you. If you have been made to wait for so long, you definitely are not the first choice and so chances of selection are less. Even if they select you in the worst case, your offer might be low balled so much that you will not be happy with it. I would keep looking for other opportunities.
FYI: It is the slowest time of year at Microsoft. End of fiscal year (decisions are slow until budget is finalized, teams/orgs shift) and summer (people take 2-3+ week vacations). Get in touch with recruiter, but if they say they haven't heard anything they're probably right.
Just know that if they decide to hire you, the recruiter will chase you down to make an offer. Otherwise, no news means hope is alive. It's also possible they made an offer to a different candidate and waiting for them to accept/reject.
I got verbal offer the next day after my onsite. After I arrived at my home city airport, I got recruiters email for offer
I am in the same boat; no follow up from recruiter or anyone and it’s been 3 weeks
I got mine within a week.
Did you interview recently?
January this yr
I don’t understand why it takes so long for them to get a decision ; either take the person or just say no . Ghosting is pretty unprofessional imo
My original offer was close to 2 months. Then when they did call, they wanted me to make a decision on the spot and be there the following business day. The delay could be due to any of a number of factors. In my case the original job had been filled internally and they found a different spot where they were willing to take the feedback.
That is quite ridiculous; most candidates will have taken something else by that point in time
