Microsoft should cut atleast 20k to be able to compete with aws. Just facts
Like compete in terms who lays off more?
Don’t know from where you’re getting these facts and how cutting employees across Microsoft (and not just azure) helps compete with aws 😂
Watch out for Satya’s all-hands after he returns from Davos.
May I DM you to refer me for a SDE II position pls?
Very likely. Analysts have been downgrading the company earnings past few weeks. Looks like revenue and earnings taking a hit so now have to adjust the cost. Unlike Amazon where they can cut the warehouse workers, Microsoft will need to cut corporate and engineering folks.
Can managers get fired in such layoffs?
Most of time I have seen sr. Manager and above immune from layoffs unless whole group is dissolved.
Is this why they also made the change to an unlimited vacation type of policy in the US. If they lay off people later on the year they won't have to pay out for unused vacation.
Except they did pay out unused vacation
Ok, so all existing ppl got that. Going fwd, they never need to worry about vacation time payments in US if they lay off. Why can't they just say that instead as one of the major reasons to make this change. I thought transparency was in.
This also means, stock price may fall after earning reporting on 24th.
Unfortunately, layoffs only increase stock price
Confirmed by CNBC and NYT.
