How is Minneapolis as a city to stay? Is the cold really a big concern if I am moving from Boston. I am one of those weird people who prefers winter over summer but does the cold in Minneapolis disrupts day to day life?
Winters aren't bad. People suck here. I am moving in a year.
Elaborate on the people?
If you don't have friends here already, you won't make any. Everyone is friends with people they have been friends with since childhood. They won't engage. I am from the south I wave and say hi to everyone I meet. They advert their eyes and don't speak. If you are from the East Coast, you definitely won't fit in at all. The passive aggressiveness every where is enough to gag you. Renting is as expensive as DC and Boston. Make sure to move to Saint Louis Park. There no is culture anywhere. Very self entitled people everywhere.
It’s not ‘Minnesota Nice’.. it’s ‘Minnesota Ice’ :-) People and weather - both are very cold! Much colder and snowy (Dec to Mar at the min) than Boston. Life is pretty hard for 4-5 months.. it is not unusual to have snow blizzards in April! If you are single or DINK couple, try to find a place in Uptown, St Louis Park or around University campus.
I think the weather is similar to Boston. CoL is much cheaper, but taxes are higher. Oh and... I've heard MN is full of fit and beautiful blondes if you're into them 💁♀️😍
