I know these cars are in different leagues but somehow I ended up looking at these two. Please help me pick. Very drawn to Model Y for being a stylish EV and high tech. But also love CX 5 looks and reliability/premium-ish feel for the price. I’d probably get a Tesla but money makes me think hard. Tesla - ~50k total price with taxes and fees. Mazda - ~30k total price with taxes and fees. I do qualify qualify for federal tax brakes and my state’s incentives, so I can shave off around 12k form Tesla, which makes it closer to 38k. At this point, is it worth it? I don’t drive much, so it’s not like I’m gonna spend a ton on gas. I also can’t charge Tesla at home but my partner can charge for free at work. Insurance seems to be at least 2x for Tesla and I will still have to take a loan on Tesla which will be 6-7% vs 3% on Mazda. First time car buyer. Making around 200k.
Get the CX-5. It's all fun and games until 8 years in when you gotta replace the battery in your Tesla for $15k
I'm buying a CX5
Mx5 for your situation. The inability to charge at home is a major inconvenience
How can you qualify for tax credits? I don't think anyone at Meta earns less than 150K
You can use the previous years taxes. I made way less last year
Wait is this true?
Get the Tesla since you can get the tax credits
CX5 hands down. Don't line that idiot's pockets. I have a 2020 Signature and it's a great car.
Yeah it's fantastic. Drove one the other weekend and was surprised that it handled very similarly to my smaller Mazda3 Hatch.
What’s so fantastic? Idiots !
30K , 3% on Mazda. Need level playing field for electric cars . Tesla might go down further as their production is higher than the demand now .
HIGHLANDER
I have a CX-5, bought it in May for the realibility. Most fun to drive car ever - feels like you're in control at all times. I've test driven a Tesla, a CRV, and a hybrid RAV4 for reference.
CX5
