From Cognizant he can only go up not down so chill and prepare hard!
Thanks, I suppose the first hurdle is getting the interviews
has he thought about doing a masters in the meantime?
Je left Maths Master program in 2020. I don't think he'll want to go back.
if he can do a masters in math he can easily do a masters in AI. i digress though - only if he wants to
Things will get better, there are a lot of folks on the same boat, so he’s not alone.
Totally understandable. I would recommend spending 3-4 hr in prep 2-3 hr applying daily
…python certs? I’ve never heard about or seen a Python cert that’s worth a penny
I will show you a worthy python cert. print("hello world") Now please give me 100$.
Sorry I reject folks who only have consulting firms on their resume
- SAP / Consultant
Yeah but I was BI developer and was also SE in FinTech. If you have consulting experience ALONG with technical and PM experience that's a different ball game. Only consulting firms? then it's a no go.
Generally, with regards to certs, don't only certain gov jobs and low-paying IT admin jobs care about them?
All IT admin jobs love certs, it’s a very stable stack based job and unlike software engineering, orgs need specialized professionals as you don’t yank out and change your backend easily. Plus certs in languages aren’t nearly as useful as certs in administration
What is his bachelor's in? Certifications don't mean much.
tell him to keep applying and figure it out

Dispirited because he is not getting the interview calls? Or is he not able to crack the interviews? Or because he was let go
Both, he started in his career late in life and getting fired was a big blow to his confidence. He has had a couple interviews but none have moved forward. Cognizant was a shit show and never put him on an actual, working project. They just kept him on the beach. He accumulated a few Azure and Python certificates but he doesn't have the hands-on experience that hiring manager and recruiters seem to look for.
And that's why I reject them, sorry 😞
