Had chatgpt write that silly highscool essay style question and I made it to the next round which is a 2.5 hour coding test. Keep in mind I haven’t even spoken to an actual human or had any sort of interview yet. I have no idea what the total compensation package is. I tried asking the recruiter assigned to me but got nothin. Should I bother going through with the application process? All I hear is bad news from canonical. Tc 80k Yoe 2 Canada
I got the email with the long ass homework assignment and got up further. Way too much of a time commitment.
It’s a wacky process and I’ve heard TC isn’t very competitive. Judging from the number of open positions and the internal attitude toward the interview process, Canonical is not long for this world, at least in its current form. But who knows? Might be a fun job when you make it through the obstacle course. To much work for too little reward in my mind.
I do wonder if they are even hiring and it's not just some kind of experiment. Seems so weird to have open recs all the time. Also know someone who got pretty far through, but still no offer.
I’ve decided to pull out. The compensation and hassle of all these interviews isn’t worth it
Did you go forward?
Nope, dropped the interview when the refused to give a salary range
How was the 2.5 hours coding?
Honestly their dickbag interview process made me bail but if you need the exp you need the exp
Eh i have a job right now, but I’m curious to know what the TC is. If its a 20k bump I’d still go through the interview process. It’s just hard when I might get offered less than what I’m making
