I've got an offer for an M1 Data Science (Analytics) role in Menlo Park, 205 base, 20% bonus, 100k/year in equity and 20k signon. I'm happy with the base, but was hoping for 150k/yr in equity and 60k sign on based on what I've seen here. Without another offer, what's the best way to attempt to negotiate? Is there any risk of losing the offer by negotiating? current TC: 235k
I think most recruiters do have wiggle room for about 10%. Just say you are looking for 10% more without beating around the bush. They will then match it or make a counter offer. Either way you get a little more.
Yeah 100k/yr equity does seem low..
Are you in data science analytics job family? Or Core DS?
Analytics
Thanks. Now I know I’m being low balled for sure. I’m only given 200K stocks.

You can tell the recruiter "I'm happy with the base, but was hoping for 150k/yr in equity snd 60k sign on"
Lol yeah that's my plan - wanted to see if anyone had a better idea 😂
This is how you might do no-leverage negotiation. With practice it gets easier to do. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DufE-dcQ70k
