New Apple Layoffs

Looks like Apple laying off 600+ employees that were all working on Apple Car earlier. #tech

Riot Games Ray Finkle Apr 4

Looks like economy must be really bad if Apple the so called Blue Chip Mag 7 has to do layoffs!

Meta rEde88 Apr 11

I hope other tech companies don't follow suit... At least we can hope that leadership will "take full responsibility" though

IBM ZynEnjoyer Apr 11

Huawei released some cars, maybe Apple found themselves too far behind

Dropbox b6!3an! Apr 5

They just needed a spark for their stagnant stock

Sony IBaJ13 Apr 5

interesting i believed Apple would've been able to find internal spots to absorb the employees from the car program. But i guess with the anti-trust lawsuit and discontinuation of the car program they're being proactive.

Snowflake Srank Apr 10

Yea exactly - at least most of them to where layoffs wouldn’t be necessary. Scary out there Friends

Apple ❤️shaped📦 Apr 11

We fucking tried to absorb them at HWT. But the money holders wanted human sacrifices at the end

Juniper Networks bezos-exx Apr 7

Perhaps Taiwan earthquake was also a factor?

I'm sick of these heartless companies that make billions while doing mass layoffs to rehire 6 months later. For god sake, we are not pawns you can play with, people have children to support, treatments to pay, mortgages .... Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with a company laying off employees when they struggle or anticipates struggles. But Apple, Google, Meta,... They sit on a huge pile of cash and could easily keep their staff busy for 6 months until they reassign them somewhere else instead of rehiring.

eBay dellbg1 Apr 11

All are big on platitudes and slogans - “people first” etc. Then cycling mass layoffs for “streamlining” and “better focus”.

Vanguard aMbG73 Apr 11

We are just pawns. We're "resources".

MRM TWG_202023 Apr 11

This was expected, but unfortunate nevertheless. No company is safe nowadays, and tech companies are colluding to drive down salaries and weaponize RTO/stack ranking/quiet firing to enforce control over tech workers. It’s sad to see, but it’s the country we live in. Hopefully everyone involved can get back on their feet.
