All values in INR, location Bangalore. Year of experience 9. SMTS in VMware, VCF. Base 53LPA, Stocks 320k for 4 years. Manager is good, work is not that interesting. I normally leave by 4-5pm, balance is really nice. Google cloud team, L5 expectations and work pressure will be real. Honestly 30L diff is too much to grasp for me. Which will eventually increase with refreshers every year. Also, Broadcom stock seems stronger that Google (my personal opinion). Rest all, benefits, food, cab, level is +1, work impact all are better if I switch. Any suggestions?#tech #google #broadcom #indiasalary #vmware #atlassian #airbnb
How did you prepare? Was it all leetcode or you are already good with CP?
Leetcode only. Behaviour/leadership principal and HLD.
Google L5 base 55 lacs?? Just 2 lacs difference from your current base.... They are low balling for sure. However considering overall benefits and current VMware situation, better to jump. However try to negotiate first to see the possibility
Not negotiating. They used to give more through approvals but not giving those approvals now a days.
Congratulations op. Can you pls share the preparation strategy, interview experience
30 Lac difference is huge !!! Evaluate your situation at Vmware for 6 more months and take a decision. Regarding loosing google offer, as you have cleared their process once you can do it again.
Hmm.. agree. They really are a stroke of luck. Any interview tbh. Also, now I don't want to spend time in interview preparation, have a family โบ๏ธ
I cannot believe that google is paying less to no hike.. Google L5 offer can go beyond 1.6 cr ... Negotiate hard or reject them... Level is not +1.. its same level..
From levels.fyi Smts maps to L4 level. How do I find it is not +1? They are not negotiating ๐. I tried a lot
"I quit " is the best way to negotiate..
Your RSUs are not guaranteed as you can get laid off any time in Broadcom.
Well this is same across industry. Have to accept the fact. Google also laid off in Feb from many teams, irrespective of performance. Bad performers were also included though.
Yes I agree with the first part but no company is gaslighting their employees and somehow trying to make them resign and not pay severance
Trust me, the work pressure diff makes a huge difference. I mean itโs understandable if at least you are gonna earn more than current. This is a no brainer.
Interviewers say you have not worked on distributed systems.. etc. This is the opportunity which I hope gives me that chance. Really I used to think there is no good work or bad work. After so many rejections, I am unsure now.
I'd say, stay in VMware if you've just started your family. Things would stabilise for good in the next 6 months and VCF is a good and fairly safer BU to be in. You already seem to be at a good level and pay in VMW right now. Why not take advantage of your stable situation and focus on your personal life and family. Just running after money and some different kind of work/new tech is not going to take you anywhere. Also, technology keeps changing and you will always get to learn a new technology throughout your life. If you have the will and determination to crack Google today, you can very well do it later as well. Take things one at a time. Learn to prioritise different phases and things in life ๐ Cheers to a good and happy life !
Google offer is lowball as always, avoid. Work in Google is not interesting either
You want to take a significant pay cut because work is not interesting? How come googe is not at least matching your current TC
See the above message. Due to significant cut I posted here. The situation in VMware is also not golden. 0 benefits. So, one can easily assume 10L worth of benefits every year, cab, food, etc. Also paternity leave here is 5 days.
