I have an offer at Optum for a Senior Java Software Engineer at Hartford Area. What compensation I should look for ? Probably grade 28. YOE: 2 Education: 2 Master Degree #optum #salary #compensation #seniorsoftwareengineer #SWE
It’s probably too late since this post is 7d old, but Optum is very stingy on raises, it’s important to get the highest you TC you can before you get in, then enjoy the chill Optum WLB.

Agreed, there’s no harm in starting with big number. Personally I haven’t seen anyone offered more than 120k base for GL28. They says most managers have budget limit (BS!) but you could get more if you play your cards well and don’t take first offer since recruiters always starts with the lowest or try to low ball you at first. Where I am talking about there is no limit to salary. You have to work hard and it is not a get rich quick....but you can set your own hours and start as small as you want and get as large as you want. Your choice. And you get paid every month for something you just did 1 time. 95% retention. Very well established in America Company. And they are debt free. You will never see them go public because they are doing so well. All training is on a golden platter.

I would ask for $160k in base salary. Likely, you will be offered in the $140s, but push for more. Then, once they claim they can go no further on salary, ask for a signing bonus. Another $5-10k is possible.
Since when optum started giving sign on? I never heard or been told by recruiters optum don’t offer sign on and RSU
