Hey all, currently an AE (IC4) at Salesforce (TEXAS, LOW COL), considering leaving because CRM is a niche and want to be in at a core cloud (IaaS, PaaS) leader - I really cannot decide what to do and would love any insight possible. Current Salesforce TC: $300k (no RSUs) Pros: good WLB, decent team / territory Cons: don't like selling the product, leadership, not much growth potential Oracle Offer TC: $350k ($160k base, $100k RSUs / 4 years, $20k signing bonus) Role: Cloud AE, MM, IC4 Pros: good management, seems like decent territory / opportunity AWS Offer TC: $293k ($195k base/signing Y1, 92k bonus, $100k RSUs / 4 years) Role: Enterprise AE L4 Pros: love the manager, potential team, love the territory, will be close to L5 promo is what I heard Google offer TC: $275k ( $145k base, $100k RSUs / 4 years) Role: Apigee or VirusTotal Specialist L4 Pros: it's Google, benefits Cons: lowest offer, not sure how I feel about Apigee or VirusTotal teams Very tough choice, and I really have no idea what to do. All of these offers have been negotiated up already. I feel like I would be pretty set up for success in all roles, and I can't decide, torn between all options. Feel like there is a lot of growth and potential in OCI, but don't know how I feel about Oracle. AWS is an absolute leader in cloud, but same culture issues as Oracle. Google has the best brand, reputation, prestige, but not sure how I feel about Apigee and VirusTotal sales, and lowest offer.## YoE: 8 Low cost of living area (Texas) #tech #salesforce #google #amazon #aws #microsoft #oracle #oci #gcp
SOB, I am an IC5 and that TC is higher than mine.
I think OP is not calculating TC correctly
He could be... that is the fattest IC4 offer I have ever seen.
I would go with OCI or just stay at Salesforce. I don't work in OCI though. AWS might be good too. You don't want GCP.
Why not GCP? Are those roles just bad? I imagine GCP and OCI being very similar in that there are a lot of greenfield accounts / lots of potential upside
It is disorganized. In sales roles, the territories not remotely fair. One person, usually in tight with the managers, may get a large and growing installed account so they finish over 100% without getting out of bed. The majority of people will get 10 brownfield accounts who have said no to GCP many times, on another cloud, and you just have to try to break in. Not easy..... I think Oracle is better. Mainly because every company in the world is an Oracle database customer so you have a reason to be speaking with everyone. Oracle is the leader in Cloud ERP, close to tied with Workday in HCM. A lot of stuff going on with Oracle at most accounts.
Do the TC figures include commissions or something? Confused how they add up.
Yes, the remaining amount is OTE bonuses
Don't believe whatever AWS is telling, even if you join them
Do you work there? How is the culture at AWS in SALES? I've heard only good things from my former colleagues.
Stay at SF
How are you calculating TC? Oracle Offer - $160k base, $100k RSUs / 4 years, $20k signing bonus Oracle TC Y1 = $160k +$100k/4 + $20k = $205k (not $350k)
If you join AWS - negotiate for L5
I tried but they arent budging - why is L5 so important? They told me I am top of band in L4 pay, and it wouldn't make any difference in comp. Plus wouldn't there be more pressure since I would be competing against L5 folks?
L4s have limited ability to move around internally. Tell them you won’t take it unless it’s L5, and they’ll give it to you - we have 400k openings right now. The promo process is a nightmare, and never happens as fast as they promise. Trust me, starting as an L5 will do a lot for your career if you choose AWS.
If you take Oracle's offer to SFDC, will they match it or beat it?
SFDC would beat it but I just don't want to work here. You are limited to CRM, is not where I want to spend my career. IaaS / PaaS sales is the bread and butter of all these top tech companies and it's here to stay for the next few decades. A lot of money to be made in that field so why not become an expert in it vs CRM
A lot of Oracle people telling you to join OCI. Don’t. Join AWS or GCP. Sales at OCI is tough and don’t think you will like it. Also Oracle as a company sucks so your future comp may not stay at this offer level.
But hasn't the culture gotten better? I heard from my interview loop oracle is now much more customer centric and becoming like Microsoft. I know it will be tough though - their leadership literally told me we expect you to invest time into this territory. And i know I won't get comped until that cloud acr meter starts spinning.
Microsoft 😂 they are just BSing. Culture is horrible. People are leaving by the droves. Oracle is far from customer centric that you would see.
