Getting an offer, but have no idea what I should strive for. What should I ask for? I have ~5 years of experience and SDE3. Comp for this year will be 280k at current stock price. Is 170-180k for base reasonable?
180k is reasonable ;)
Sarcasm? I truly have no idea.
Nope, it should be doable
I don't think postmates pays nearly that much, but do let us know.
Be prepared for the "we pay less because we give more options and they are worth this much now and will be worth this much later so believe us and take a lower base, bonus, benefits..." speech
yeah be weary of them trying to say their values will explode or grow at ridiculous rates
You should interview at DoorDash instead cause we're crushing Postmates product wise. They just have drastically superior branding so it seems like they're doing well.

You guys aren't in Seattle though π©
180 should be your target. And 800k to 1.4M RSU. But looks like you became SDE3 quickly. Wouldn't leave that.
They donβt have RSUs
LOL 7 figure RSUs, yeah right.
Why not? I have ~third of that vesting over the next two years. Why not ask 3x when it's a risky startup?
ππππ
They pay well, trust me, but the options are going be hard to price, especially nowadays with delivery companies dying left and right. The IPO date seems to keep moving back too. Personally I asked and got more base and fewer options. A lot of things have to go right for an IPO to happen. Love the day to day work though.
Where you trying to get more options? Mind if I PM you?
You're very welcome to, happy to answer any questions!

Thank you AAPL and NVDA
Realistically, I don't see a future for that kind of business
Also interviewed at Dropbox on-site this week :) We'll see how that goes. I tend to agree, hard to make this model work. You gotta be more frugal than Amazon to make those margins work :/
