What happens when most of your team is Indian?
I was pointed to an article on educative.io where they state the languages that Amazon prefers are Java, c++, python, ruby, and Perl. This article is from June 2020. Is this still the case? My reason for asking is because during code challenge they do let you choose other languages including JavaScript, which I would prefer instead of Python.

Java/Python is entirely versatile for Amazon and anywhere else, I guess C++ if you’re truly more comfortable in it than Java/Python (this is from a backend perspective)
Do not worry about language, write what you are comfortable with. Good algorithm and clean code matters.
