Hey all I’m scheduling an initial technical phone interview with a Google recruiter for a Product Analyst, Data Science role and really want it. Hoping i can get some insight on the interview process and what i need to do to prepare. My background: have been Sr Business Intelligence Analyst for 2 years now, before that 2 years BI Analyst. Currently Sr level at Slack with TC of 180k I’d like to make the switch to a more technical analyst role as BI is getting extremely boring. I mainly work in SQL and consider myself pretty good at it in terms of problem solving. Very familiar with window functions etc. I’ve used python and R before but i dont know much without looking at documentation and googling everything currently. So I’m familiar with both of those languages and would love to get better at them. I’m a bit worried about the interview because there’s a lot of mention about stats questions. I haven’t thought much about stats since i was in college a while back, where I did do quite a bit of stats and did well in those classes—but i dont really remember anything off the top of my head, What should i expect in the technical interview? They say you can choose SQL or python, but I’ve read some have both asked? Should i prep for python questions as well? What are some good resources for learning the stats they’re focusing on (hypothesis testing, probability, etc)? How good of a shot would you say someone with my experience has?#data #dataanalytics #datascience Any advice on the interview process would be greatly appreciated!
Expect to be downleveled and underpaid relative to what you can make elsewhere (although probably more than you're making now). But if Google fits your personality, maybe that's ok.
I think in terms of doing things I want to and learning opportunities it’s definitely worth it. When you say underpaid relative to what you can make elsewhere, do you mean relative to other PA roles at other companies? My biggest thing is I don’t have product experience. All my BI work is on the revenue side of thing, not product.
Is Google's PA role notoriously famous for underpaying/ down leveling candidates?
A bit tangential, since it's a paid service, but I know there are Google DSes on Prepfully who offer mocks. Depending on how serious you are about this, could be worth exploring. They charge 100 bucks/mock interview so it gets expensive fast.
Stats, SQL, case studies

Hi OP, I have a tech screen coming up. I have 5 years experience working as analyst in Product. I need to review stats since it has been a while. Any insights on the tech screen would help in preparation

Brother beaten severely as a kid. Doesn’t speak to dad at all now.
Recently passed the PA phone screen. Half easy Sql questions half case study including AB testing questions. No stats questions were asked. But have heard stats questions being asked in others’ PA interviews.
What were the AB testing questions like? Any examples
What was round 2 like?
