I had an interview with the Product group. I got a weird vibe from the team and the manager there. It’s also part of IT so is it back office?
Every team is back to office
There's only 1 product manager at Tesla - Elon
So what do the PMs do??
Just do a bunch of projects 😂
Probably because we are on a hiring freeze and they don’t know what to do
Supply chain is not on hiring freeze
Product in IT org is a trade-off to say the least. Constantly over-loaded (yes even compared to PM in general) and pay is highly dependent on stock (base is 🗑). But you will likely have a ton of autonomy and get your hands into every part of the company. You’ll gain 2 years of experience for every 1 year - but mostly cause you work 10+ hrs a day. TL;DR Do it if you want experience in a giant global company and need the shiny name on your resume. But be prepared to give up plenty of time and energy.
💯
I interviewed with them as well, but declined cause I got a really bad vibe from the team and the director :(
OK TELL ME WHY SOME FOLKS ARE ARROGANT?
???
Edited - Bunch of entitled folks in Product. Arrogant for no reason whatsoever.

Lol then what do our project managers do?
Got a friend or two transfer to Product Manager after 1 year as a project manager, and after another year got promo to Sr. Product Manager.
