Dont leave lnkd. Medallia is another company in a crowded space. It might be a good company but def not better than lnkd

LinkedIn URVb72 OP Apr 25, 2016

What do you mean by crowded space? Who else is the competition?

Google Damnit Apr 25, 2016

SaaS

i'd say it is one of the good startups in business apps today. no inside knowledge to truly make any judgements on leadership/vision/funding. what context is your question -- as a potential place to work or are you considering purchasing their service? I'm assuming former, but just checking.

LinkedIn URVb72 OP Apr 22, 2016

Yea.. Potential place to work

Hmmmm.... don’t really see why people call an almost 20-year old company a startup. Private, pre-ipo maybe but, startup.... a bit of a marketing stretch there

Good people and a good product, very expensive

LinkedIn lotto_win Apr 22, 2016

it's an enterprise product... meant to be expensive. businesses may still find it cheaper than traditional alternatives

As someone that works there, I would say it depends on what you are looking for. It is a good company/engineers during a time of rapid change. If you are looking for a small company environment then it isn't for you. (This answer applies for engineers)

Nod a bad company but beware of some caveats: no matter what people tell you, there is a ton of serious tech debt here. Don’t let anyone fool you otherwise. This company really wants to keep the startup vibe as long as they can so they tend to cater A LOT to younger demographics. It’s not good or bad but something worth knowing upfront. Also, personally, I don’t see Medallia as a tech or eng-focused company. Eng. is not the main business. Service is. Eng. org is not as big as it should so many times things look like you are trying to share a small and old poor man’s blanket among several people during a winter cold night. Eng. management have a strong discourse about innovation and paying off the tech debt and API-first everything but reality is not quite the same. We can see efforts here and there but mostly actual pushes and results towards that goal is excruciatingly slow. Anyways.... I could say more but I don’t want to sound too pessimistic.

I'm there now. You're pretty much on point. So much tech debt that things are excruciatingly slow. But At the same time if your new to the industry it's an opportunity to be involved in the core foundations of things. For example being the core member that build the cloud engineering team or being the core member the refractors the entire data pipeline/ analytics engine. You will almost never get that opportunity at a bigger place. That's pretty much the only reason I joined I wanted to big things - knowing it would be an uphill battle. This is deffo not a kushy place but the people are so dope!! Incredibly smart and willing to share their knowledge.

Great people, great culture, way better than Microsoft.

Medallia dhusnkB Jul 21, 2019

Great people, great culture, great product, way, way better thank Microsoft. (And Amazon from an employee experience point of view)

When thinking about investment, don’t just think purely from the money perspective, also think about what impact you are bringing to the world, and whether the employees, supply chain workers are being treated fairly and happy (No prime day over hours for MDLA), what ecosystem you are help creating, what personalities you are helping strengthening?(No passive-aggressiveness from the MSFT systems) Medallia help challenge the top-down company structure to bring customer feedback to all levels of the company, it’s a democracy revolution for corporations, it’s a company built for the new generation and the future.
