Tech companies to avoid as a white guy?
Been thinking about leaving Meta for a while, currently working as a UXR, IC4 with 2YOE at Meta following my PhD. I’m on track to hit IC5 next March, so I’m hesitant to leave the promo prospect for a lateral move, but the comp bump is hard to pass. Current Meta Comp: Base: $145k Bonus: 15% ($21,750) Unvested RSUs: ~70k TC: $184,250 Google Offer: L4 Base: $155k Bonus: 15% ($23,250) Stock: $370k Sign on: $30k TC (1st year): $330,350 TC (4 year avg): $278,250 What should I do? Edit: Location is Seattle #meta #google #offer
If you need Visa sponsorship, take the offer
Definitely google
That’s a good offer. You could always bring to Meta to see what they say. Meta stock has taken a battering and you’re getting Google shares at a discount right now if you sign. Are you getting 40% of your equity in year one?
Google does 33, 33, 22, 12, so first year TC was base+bonus+.33 stock+sign on
Ah so the breakdown for Y1 comp that would be 155k + 23,250 + 122k (370k x .33) + 30k = $330,250. I thought there was an error*
Call your recruiter and find out if the offer is still valid. If not signed, don't count on it.
Google for sure. Even if you get the promo, you'll most likely get downleveled if you apply to google after the promo for the same level in future. Btw Im assuming the position is for bay area?
Seattle area, edited post to clarify
Oh yeah dude definitely take google. Thats an amazing offer for seattle
🥜
This is a bit disappointing. Currently L5 APSCI (3+PhD) at Amazon (L6 promo in Q4), and Google is awaiting for the "Pause" to end to make a formal offer. Google org VP personally confirmed over email that the position will stay open after the pause. My L6 total comp at Amazon will be 430k and given Amazon's in-year refreshers for new promos, it will be my current comp in 2023. I had mentioned this to my Google recruiter and that my expectation would be above 450k and she hadn't flinched.
Shitty company, shitty offer
