Hi Good Wise Folks of Blind, I need your advice. I have been interviewing for the past 4-5 months and though I feel I have gotten better in terms of cracking phone screens.(success rate: about 80%) Getting rejected at onsite rounds consistently (My speculation, coding speed, design). I have been scheduling these onsite interviews within a 5 days of each other. Can you please advice on what strategies helped you to get that first YES :)? LC: 207 (53 Easy, 122 Medium, Hard 32) YOE: 7 years Design: Grokking + youtube+ medium blogs Any advice would help. :) Am feeling a bit low and dejected. :( Phonescreen Reject: Dropbox Netflix Doordash : Onsite Reject: Grail (F/b : standard better candidates at the moment) Nextdoor (F/b: Coding speed for one of the coding interview costed me) Pinterest (F/b: Technically solid and great communications but red flag on not being able to follow along hints) Pandora (F/b: Lacking skillset for the role) Twilio (F/b: Better candidates..) Pending onsite Twitter Lyft (Revoked my application as I was dejected by other onsite performance :( ) Google Atlassian (They cancelled onsite as position was on hold) #engineering #faang #interview #leetcode #advice #software #swe
Nothing, keep doing what you’re doing as far as studying goes. Not convinced there’s any sort of strategy, chalk the rest up to your luck and keep going.
A lot of the times it's just luck.
Why move from apple?
For better work and growth. Have been around for 5 years. To change orgs/teams, I have to go through an interview process. :(
I have friend in similar situation in Apple ... how hard is it to interview in new team in Apple ??
Can you explain your situation with Lyft? Did you cancel your onsite or they canceled your onsite ?
I cancelled their onsite after half loop. They have 4 onsite interviews 2 Design 1 laptop round and 1 behavioral. I finished 1 design and behavioral and then got reject from Pinterest and I was too dejected to continue. I thought revoking application is better as in a month or so I can restart the process if they are still hiring rather than getting rejecting and waiting for a year.
Do leetcode questions specific for each company, and have a sense of how important is the culture on each company (using blind, glassdoor, leetcode forums, reddit, ...). If culture is important focus on that accordingly. Other than that you just need luck, its a game of numbers. I also remember the point in which I was passing phone screens but not onsites, you are soon going to start passing onsites. They are all the same, all the companies are playing the same game, its just about getting used to it.
Thanks so much nXPH71. :) Appreciate the insight and positivity! :)
Even I used to crack 80% phone and failed in onsites due to low leetcode count and system design etc. solve leetcode more

270K; the team switch thing has been hurting me for passed 2 years. :(
Lyft might haveq been the easiest to crack amongst them.
@king_james; Oh no! I was feeling quite depressed and preemptively withdrew my name from onsite after half. May be I should get back in touch with my recruiter. She was very helpful and told me I should reach out if I want to give it a shot. :(
Yes there will be two design rounds which would be very prototypical like design Twitter or design groupon. And one coding which is directly from leetcode. Good thing is the coding round is open book and open notes and you can copy leetcode solution and then modify
Thanks telecast...yeah I started grinding now and took a 1 week break...
